Happy Halloweenie!

Halloween came up on us quickly this Fall.  Its been a super busy full speed ahead kind of fall.  Luckily, Andrew totally takes over costume requests.  If it were up to me, the boys would probably be sporting something not very original and store bought.  But Andrew really gets into it, and he loves making the boys requests for costumes come through by sewing/stapling/gluing and crafting them up something cool.

This year, Dylan wanted to be Desmond Miles, a character from a video game he loves.  I didn't even know what or who that was, but Andrew looked him up and created a costume including not only the clothing to the T, but a hidden blade and built in candy bag for treats.

Logan loves to learn about squid, and when we were at a theme park earlier this fall, bought a squid hat at his souvenir.  It was only natural that he would want a full body costume to go with the hat.

This year we crossed over a new milestone.  Dylan asked to Trick or Treat with some friends from school, who live in a different part of our neighborhood.  One of the Moms went and trailed behind them, and I stayed home to walk Logan through out neighborhood.  I have to admit it broke my heart a tiny bit to watch Dylan go off but he had so much fun!   Logan enjoyed some one on one time with Andrew and I, and loved handing out candy too.

We also had another milestone this year... Dylan carved his entire pumpkin on his own. Sigh.  My boy is growing up!

Homemade Halloween

I truly do have the worlds best husband.  The boys decided they wanted to have homemade costumes this year, and Andrew has been busy for the past month turning cardboard boxes into Minecraft Steve and a fancy robot with jetpack, lights and sound effects.  The efforts were well appreciated Halloween night, as the boys ventured door to door seeking treats.  We heard "best costumes of the night" many times.  It was fun to see the boys so proud of their costumes and enjoy this magical night.

Boo!

Its always a little sad to see Halloween come and go.  However, this year its a little easier to move on, since we leave for Disney World in four days!   We had a great Halloween weekend though, and when the boys aren't looking I'll be stealing all Almond Joys and Snickers!

Look at this fun scary dip my neighbor made!

tricks and treats

Well, Halloween is over and Logan is already asking when he can go trick-or-treating again.  To a boy with a complete addiction to candy, its the holiday to end all holidays.  I truly think he loves Halloween more than Christmas.

Here are our two Harry Potters, ready for action.  I think they got more treats than they can ever eat, and they didn't even have to cast any spells.

Meet Mr.Big Nose and Mrs. Hairy

Last night we realized, looking at our busy weekend ahead, if we didn't hurry up and carve pumpkins they just weren't going to get carved this year.  After dropping a steaming hot, fresh out of the oven 20 lb pan of homemade lasagna all over the floor (and myself, up the cabinets, dishwasher and as high as the counter tops), we almost scrapped pumpkin carving all together.   I just didn't want to deal with another big mess!

But, alas, we persevered, laid out the newspaper, got out our fancy pants Williams Sonoma carving tools and got busy.  My pumpkin was exceptionally stringy inside, so she got a hair-do.  Andrew's pumpkin had a great stem for a big ole' schnoz.

A while back, we got Logan this Domo doll.  We told him every time he felt angry, to go sit with his doll and talk to him, hit him, do whatever he needed to do to help him feel better.  It hasn't exactly worked out, but that's another post. Anyway, I kind of modeled my pumpkin face after the doll and Logan thought that was pretty funny.

parade of treats

Its that time of year...Logan had his adorable Halloween costume parade and party at preschool today.  Its really a prelude to a whole weekend jam packed full of so many ghoulish activities, I know the boys will both collapse after their sugar coma wears off Sunday night.

Both Dylan and Logan insisted on being the same thing this year for Halloween, which 1) is just so cute and 2) made it very easy for us to get everything together.

Here is our tiniest Harry Potter, looking not so tiny anymore in his first necktie and glasses, and his parade at his school.

They made Spooky Stew at their kid-only party, read stories and played games.  And how cute is this soda bottle pumpkin they made?
