This weekend at the lake house was about as close to a perfect weekend as possible with a five and almost two year old. The weather was gorgeous, the company was great, we all slept well, the kids played so nice with the other kids and we enjoyed some incredible meals and quality time with my Mom and Stepdad and other family members. Logan loved his first jet ski ride and Dylan tried knee boarding behind the boat for the first time. Dylan tubed behind the jet ski for hours, and spent the rest of his time swimming to and jumping from the dive platform, fishing, and eating junk food.
We got our first glimpse of what a family vacation feels like now that the kids are a little older, and it will just keep getting better. Last summer Logan was just a baby and napping twice a day and not walking and a 'vacation' was really just a change of scenery. This year is totally different. We actually got to relax and have fun ourselves. I think I read four People magazines!
It was so fun, actually, that we spent all day yesterday frolicking and grilling dinner together and didn't get home until 10 pm last night. So with arms sore from tubing myself, I am tackling a bazillion loads of very dirty lake laundry today and nursing a sunburned back. A small price to pay for lovely weekend.
